SCOREGolf Club Manager<br>of the Year Award

 

Purpose

The SCOREGolf Club Manager of the Year award is presented by SCOREGolf Magazine to the candidate who is deemed worthy in the opinion of the Society.

Criteria

Criteria for selection include:

  • The senior manager (i.e. General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or Clubhouse Manager) of a successful golf club
  • Performed well over an extended period at the club(s) that the nominee has managed
  • Well respected by club members, executive and fellow club managers
  • Contribution to the game of golf, which could involve work within or outside of the club, related to support and development of the game
  • Participation and contribution to the development of the club management profession through leadership, involvement and service at the Branch or National levels of CSCM
  • Contribution to the community - the nominee has made a personal contribution to the community at large through volunteer work, service clubs, charity or other form

Nominations

A call for nominations is made to CSCM members annually.  Nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee, which then makes its recommendations to the CSCM Board.

A letter presenting the Society's recommendation is then presented to SCOREGolf Magazine which announces the award to the recipient and makes all arrangements for the presentation.

Jon Nusink, CCM
General Manager/COO
London Hunt and Country Club

General Manager of successful golf club:
Jon Nusink, CCM is in his second year as the General Manager & COO of The London Hunt and Country Club.  In the past year, Jon and his team successfully managed the loss of all 18 greens from winter damage, hosted the CP Women’s Open, and began a large clubhouse renovation. 

Well respected by Club Members, Club Executives and fellow Club Managers:
Jon has displayed a history of excellence at every club he has managed.  He is well respected by all staff, members and by his colleagues within the club management industry.

Contribution to the game of golf, which could include work within or outside of the club, related to support and development of the game:
Jon displayed great leadership and organization skills throughout the preparations for The London Hunt and Country Club to host the CP Women's Open in August 2014.

Jon's contributions to the club management profession have also extended to the local community college.  At Fanshawe College, he served on the College Advisory Committee from 2008-2011 and again from 2014- present. Jon was instrumental in developing the School of Tourism and Hospitality’s Golf and Recreation Management Program at Fanshawe College where he also taught part time.

Contribution to the community – the nominee has made a contribution to the community at large through volunteer work, service clubs, charity or other form:
Over the years, Jon has served as both a youth baseball and a youth hockey coach within his community.  Jon was also a volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club and with the Ronald McDonald House.

Participation and contribution to the development of the Club Management Profession through leadership, involvement and service at the Branch or National Levels of CSCM:
During his 27 year career in the private club management industry, Jon has been held several positions on the CSCM Southwest Ontario Branch Board, which culminated in Jon serving as the Branch president from 2011-2013.

On a national basis, Jon was part of the 2010 National Conference Planning Committee, the Professional Development Committee from 2013 - present, and most recently Chair of the 2015 CSCM National Food & Beverage Conference.
