Earning Credits

How Credits are Accumulated

While education can take on many forms, for certification purposes, CSCM/CMAA Education is defined as a structured experience that enables the purposeful growth of the individual in the club management field, in a manner that can be assessed by CSCM. Credits are given for CSCM/CMAA/CMI-endorsed education programs and for CSCM/CMAA approved equivalents. At least one-half (50%) of the total education credit requirement for certification must come from CSCM/CMAA sponsored education programs.

The general rule is that one education credit is awarded for each full hour of instruction. For example, a program of 2.5 hours will earn attendees two education credits. When computing credits, time for breaks, meals and other non-instructional activities is excluded. The only programs for which fractional credits are awarded are the 90-minute CMAA World Conference or CSCM Annual Conference sessions for which 1.5 credits are awarded.

CSCM Webinars

2 Association Activity credits - Association Activity if participating on own or as part of a club session. No credits for listening to recorded versions of webinar.

How are credits tracked?

Education and other credits are assessed and tracked by the CSCM National Office, which collects credit reports from each CSCM Branch. Members must report any additional credits earned through programs outside CSCM or CMAA and provide the required supporting documentation. This documentation allows National Office to assess the appropriate number of credits earned and confirms attendance in outside programs.

CSCM has developed a customized module for the web site for tracking certification credits which will allow members to log on and view their credit history at any time.  A link to the report is visible on the Members Only side of the web site once the member has logged on.

PLEASE NOTE: CSCM does not receive notification of any programs completed through CMAA such as BMI courses.  CSCM members taking programs through CMAA are responsible for providing CSCM National Office with proof of completion of these courses once they have received confirmation from CMAA.  The only exception is the annual CMAA  Conference as CSCM does request credit reports from CMAA following the Conference.

Further details on how credits are reported and tracked are available under the Process/Requirements section.
