Eligibility

In order to be eligible for certification, you must first be an “Active Member” of the Society. To be considered an Active Member, you should be employed as a general manager or in senior management of a club or similar association at the time of registration for the Certified Club Manager (CCM) program.

CSCM is pleased that all of its current CCM graduates have agreed to be "mentors" to those pursuing their designation.  If you have questions or would like to chat with one of them about their experience, please see the List of Recipients and then CSCM members may use the Online Member Directory or the printed Member Roster to contact them.  If you have any trouble with the contact CSCM National Office would be pleased to assist you.

Registration

CSCM members wishing to participate in the Certification Program must first complete and submit the Initial Registration Form to the National Office.  There is no fee, but registration indicates a commitment to pursuing the designation.

History of Past Education

Members will also need to complete the Credit History Form in order to have past education and experience counted as part of their Personal Credit Record. This allows the Society to assess additional credits needed for eligibility to challenge the CCM exam.  Recognition is given for eligible education activities and association activities for 5 years back.

Tracking Credits

While the National Office will make every effort to maintain an accurate record of each member’s certification credits, it is the responsibility of the individual members to keep track of education and experience credits they have earned. Members should check with their Branch Secretary and/or with the National Office to ensure that all credits earned are recorded. CSCM has developed a special module for this web site that allows those individuals registered for the program (see "Registration" above) to review and download their credit histories from the Members Only area of the web site at any time.

Credits are tracked as follows:

  1. Credits earned at CSCM national conference are entered by National Office following each conference for all CSCM members participating provided a session evaluation form has been received.

  2. Credits earned for each CMI course are entered by National Office once the results of the exam have been verified.

  3. Credits earned through participation at CMAA Conferences are recorded by CMAA.  At this time, CMAA does not automatically report these to CSCM, therefore members wishing them to be added to their CSCM file must file a request with  National Office.

  4. CSCM Branches are responsible for reporting attendance at Branch business meetings and education sessions once per year at the end of the calendar year so that National Office may enter the appropriate association activity and branch education credits.

  5. Each year, CSCM distributes a form as part if the Data Confirmation mailing at the time of membership renewal that provides for members to update National Office on any CSCM volunteer activities or other activities for which they should be awarded association activity credits for the previous calendar year.

  6. Members participating in Allied Association education sessions (e.g. NGCOA and CGSA conferences) must have the following form completed by those organizations and then submit it to National Office.

Summary

There are three components to earning the CCM designation:

  1. Accumulating credits and participation in approved education programs and Society activities;

  2. Challenging the exam successfully; and

  3. Maintaining certification through continual professional development and CSCM membership.
