BMI General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

January 27 - February 1, 2018

CSCM is pleased to offer the third core Business Management Institute (BMI) course required for the Certified Club Manager designation in partnership with the Hospitality and Tourism Management office at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management to deliver a program that builds upon the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer concept.

This BMI (formerly known as BMI III) will provide participants the tools with which to operate their club as a business and be perceived as its operational leader.

Upon successful completion of this BMI course you will earn 30 National Education credits towards eligibility for petitioning for the CCM.

Topics in this program include the following:

  • The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer Concept
  • Legislation Relevant to Clubs
  • Marketing Principles
  • Member Participation Strategies
  • The Law and Club Operations
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Building the Key Leadership Team
  • Social Media as a Communication Tool
  • Facility Maintenance
  • Applying the Language of Finance to Clubs
  • Protecting Your Private Club's Tax Exempt Status
  • Golf Operations for Managers
  • Golf Course Maintenance for Managers
  • Case Study Presentation
  • Negotiation Techniques
  • Business Writing

The finance content has been significantly changed and will be presented by Russell Conde of Club Benchmarking.  In order to ensure he has Canadian data relevant to participants, we will ask for assistance from CSCM members in collecting information.  Watch for a request coming soon with a link from Club Benchmarking to provide information to be used in the presentation, and for a report to ultimately be made available to those who provide that information.
